Hodge School, looking toward front of room.

Hodge School stove provided heat for school and allowed teacher to heat food for students at lunch time. Students often brought vegetables, etc., from their family farms which teacher would incorporate into a stew.

Hodge School from outside. This school was used in the nearby town of Washington, ME between the years of 1864 to 1954. The school was donated to the Matthews Museum, moved to current location and dedicated in 1978.
